NAPLES, Fla.- The Collier County Sheriff's Office arrested a 35-year-old man Thursday night, after a deputy found a dog under a bleach-soaked blanket at the suspect's residence. Lester Forrest now faces charges of animal cruelty and criminal mischief.

A deputy responded to 3195 50th Street SW in reference to an argument, but the smell of bleach was so strong that his eyes began to burn. After entering the residence, the deputy found the dog under a blanket soaked in bleach and a 50-pound bag of dog food spilled on the floor, also covered in bleach.

When asked about the dog, Forrest said he covered it with the blanket because it was cold.

Forrest told the deputy there was nothing going on in the house and that the bleach odor was from a spray bottle of bleach to kill black molds on the walls. The deputy also noticed bleach all over the living room, but he did not locate a spray bottle or black mold spots on the wall, according to the arrest report.

Forrest was arrested and transported to the Naples Jail Center without incident.
