CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A Lee County bus driver has been fired after authorities say he was running a marijuana grow house.
On Tuesday, Cape Coral Police arrested Alexander Alvarez-Casanova after a tip regarding stolen electricity.
On Friday, October 4, police conducted an investigation at 3416 NE 12th Avenue, and later determined Alvarez-Casanova was the homeowner.
WINK News obtained cell phone video of the raid. A neighbor who did not want to be identified, said "We just kept hearing, 'This is the Cape Coral Police. Come out with your hands up."
Another neighbor wash shocked to learn about the bust a few days later.
"That's scary, because you trust your kids to the school bus driver, the teachers and all, and then to find out a school bus driver's growing. I just hope he don't get no kids hooked up on it or nothing," Al Roncek said.
Police were originally alerted when a utility worker noticed power was being illegally diverted. According to the police report, the employee reported smelling raw marijuana coming from the home.
The Lee County School District said Alvarez-Casanova had been in his position for less than a year.
