FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Fort Myers Police Department arrested Xavier Diggs, 25, today, for his involvement in a bank robbery that happened last Wednesday.
On August 28, 2013 Diggs and another male suspect entered the Bank of America, located at 2850 Winkler Avenue. The two were disguised as women and handed the teller a note demanding money. They fled the scene in a newer model, Ford, F-150 pickup truck with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The investigation will continue until the second suspect is taken into custody.
This is the second bank robbery arrest FMPD has made in just a few days. On Friday, FMPD arrested John Cross, 34, for a bank robbery that happened last Thursday at the Wells Fargo Bank on Six Mile Cypress Parkway. Police released surveillance photos of the suspect to the media and numerous people identified Cross as the suspect through Crime Stoppers. With the evidence and information gathered in the case, FMPD detectives obtained a warrant for Cross’s arrest. Further investigation on his whereabouts led detectives to the Tampa area where Cross was located and arrested without incident.
In the meantime, anyone with information is asked to call FMPD at 321-7700, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS or text message C-R-I-M-E-S (274637) Keyword FMPD. Tipsters can remain anonymous. Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the robbery suspects could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
