FORT MYERS, Fla.- Late Friday evening, August 30, 2013 the Fort Myers Police Department with assistance from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested 34-year-old John Cross of Cape Coral for a bank robbery that happened on Thursday.
On Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 4:08 p.m. FMPD responded to a bank robbery at 9250 Six Mile Cypress Parkway. Upon arrival police learned that a male suspect entered the bank and displayed a note to a teller demanding money. He then ran away with some cash. No one inside the bank was hurt.
Police released surveillance photos of the suspect and numerous people identified Cross as the suspect through CrimeStoppers.
With the evidence and information gathered in the case, FMPD detectives obtained a warrant for Cross’s arrest. Further investigation on his whereabouts led detectives to the Tampa area where Cross was located and arrested without incident. Cross is currently being held in the Hillsborough County Jail.
