PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Punta Gorda Police Detectives arrested 64-year-old Joseph A. Tremblay on Thursday for Giving a False Report to Law Enforcement after claiming he was the victim of a robbery.

Tremblay called police and reported that he had been robbed by two unknown men outside of a local restaurant in Punta Gorda. He reported that while exiting his vehicle, he was beaten, kicked and one of the men reached into his pockets and took $360 in cash and his cell phone. Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation.

It was later determined that Tremblay had been in contact with an adult escort service in Bradenton during the time of the alleged robbery. Further investigation revealed that Tremblay travelled to Bradenton to meet with a female escort that was advertising prostitution services online at Once there, Tremblay was invited inside. In what is believed to be a pre-planned set-up, the escort’s boyfriend attacked Tremblay, beating and kicking him, and subsequently stole his money and cell phone.

Tremblay was arrested, transported to the Charlotte County Jail, where he remains on a $1,000.00 bond.
