FT. MYERS, Fla. - A Fort Myers neighborhood honored 2 police officers for helping remove a pair of squatters that allegedly brought crime and drugs to their community.
Homeowners joined forces with cops to make the arrests.
Residents near Winkler Ave. and Arlington St. say the people were illegally living inside a vacant home for weeks.
"The eyes and ears of the residents is what really helped us," said Ofc. Sean Fitzpatrick.
Firzpatrick and Ofc. David Conticelli were issued a plaque made by homeowners thanking them for their continued efforts to clean up their neighborhood.
The presentation was scheduled on Saturday.
The residents also made a cash donation in the name of the 2 officers to the Sgt. Michael Wilson Memorial fund.
