CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Three Cape Coral men were arrested today after allegedly planning to kidnap and rob a Georgia resident.

On Thursday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received information that a group of individuals were conspiring to rob, torture, kidnap and/or murder a business owner in Georgia who owed them money. A plan was put in motion after a series of meetings and conversations over the course of several days.

Detectives learned the conspirators were gathering firearms, masks, body armor, zip ties and other weapons and materials necessary to achieve the goal of obtaining the money owed. They intended to kidnap the man and any of his employees who got in the way. If the victim failed to comply with their demands they discussed the various means of torture they would employ to get the money. If necessary, they would kill the victim.
