FORT MYERS, Fla.- A Fort Myers man is facing child porn-related charges, after investigators say he had hundreds of sexually explicit images on flash drives, but it's how authorities caught Brian Harling that makes this story different from most.

The suspect rented out his home, but left all the images behind. And the story only gets worse from here.

Harling rented out his condominium to a woman through an ad on Craigslist. She was only there for a few days when she found flash drives with hundreds of explicit pictures. She has since moved out.

Robert Sronce doesn't know what to think about his former neighbor who is now facing child pornography charges.

"Shocking. I can tell you that right now. This is shocking and saddening," said Sronce. "He cut our hair at the barber shop. I know him from walking around here, and all I can tell you is I've never seen any children around him. This is very surprising"

But on July 4th,  a new tenant was unpacking in Harling's old apartment when something fell off a shelf. According to the criminal complaint, she told investigators she "...found three USB thumb drives containing child pornography in her apartment while she was moving in."

She also mentioned that in one of their meetings "Harling stated that her 20-month-old daughter had 'seductive' eyes."

When investigators went to the apartment, they found two more flash drives and "...260 of these images were believed to be produced by Harling, as some of them depicted Harling engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a minor..."

Authorities caught up with Harling days later at a Cape Coral home.

Homeland Security investigators, Fort Myers and Cape Coral Police are all involved in this case. Investigators say it looks like the images are from 2008 to 2010. He made a first appearance in federal court Monday and is expected back on Thursday.
