FORT MYERS, Fla.- Fort Myers Police arrested a 15-year-old on Sunday, after the infant he was babysitting was found covered in burn marks.

The teen watched the 1-year-old victim on Thursday night, and called the child's mother to inform her the victim had been accidentally burned with a fork while the suspect was cooking. When the baby's mother arrived home, the suspect showed her the burn mark, which the mother didn't think was a serious issue.

Later that evening, when she was bathing the victim, the mother noticed more and more marks resembling fork burns. She found them on the baby's thigh, calf, back and irritation on the child's fingers. The mother wanted to see if they would heal on their own before reporting anything.

She decided to call the police after confronting the suspect.

The teen was interviewed by FMPD, and subsequently arrested and charged with child neglect.
