PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Punta Gorda Police arrested an Italian national, living at the Budget Inn Motel, who allegedly burglarized the Slip Knot Lounge early Monday morning.

Police responded to the lounge after employees discovered that someone shattered the rear glass door, entered the business, and stole alcohol and cigarettes. Money was also taken from two vending machines on the property. A hammer, which was apparently used to gain entry was found at the scene.

Punta Gorda Police Crime Technician responded and collected evidence to include the suspect's blood left in various places throughout the bar. Employees also handed over a video surveillance tape that recorded the crime. The still photograph to the left depicts the suspect, a barefoot male wearing light colored clothing.

Punta Gorda Police Detectives, who deducted the shoeless male was local, checked across the street at the Budget Inn Motel and found their suspect living in room 102. The stolen alcohol and other evidence was seized. He has been identified as 42-year-old Italian national, Tiziano Cardia. He was arrested and charged with Burglary, Grand Theft, Petty Theft, and Molesting a Vending Machine. Cardia was transported to the Charlotte County Jail and held on $6,000.00 bond.
