NAPLES, Fla.- Naples Police have arrested the man accused of killing eight ducklings with a broom.

On Monday, the Naples Police Department received a report of an animal cruelty complaint. Witnesses observed a Hispanic male suspect used a broom to intentionally and inhumanely kill eight ducklings and injure two ducklings in the George Washington Carver Apartment Complex, located 350 10th St. N.

The ducklings were left on the property and in the roadway. Officers were able to rescue two of the ducklings and take them to the Conservancy of Naples for treatment of injuries. Veterinarians at the Conservancy of Naples estimated that the ducklings were approximately 2 weeks old.

During the investigation, NPD Detectives identified the suspect as Rolando Rives, 55, of 350 10th St. N. Apt. M4.

On Thursday, a Naples Police Officer developed information regarding a possible location of Rives. The officer, with the assistance of the Collier County Sheriff's Office SET team, located Rives.

Rives was arrested and charged with 8 counts of animal cruelty.
