PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - A Charlotte County business owner busts three people he says were stealing from his store!
Monday, WINK News talked to that owner who says he stopped that burglary, and his surveillance cameras caught even more.
Even before you walk into A+ Action Appliance Store, the cameras are on.
Owner Skip Gircsis installed surveillance cameras inside and outside to protect his family owned business. A goal that was put to the test Sunday night. Gircsis was driving home from dinner when he noticed a car, a truck and a trailer parked here.
He says Keith and Tiffany Carmello and Joseph Vantre were loading up refrigerators, washers and dryers.
"I pulled right up behind them and said hey what are you doing?... 'we thought we could just take this stuff...' 'no that's not the right answer,'" he says.
Gircsis says the trio had unloaded the appliances by the time deputies got to the business.
"I pointed up at cameras and said see they're on surveillance," he adds.
But these cameras caught more than the owner's confrontation with the thieves. That wasn't their first but second trip to load up on appliances.
"I went out and I asked him, did he have anything else to tell me? He said, no. I said you think maybe you want to tell me something about the first load you took? He said, 'oh you didn't ask me about that,'" Gircsis adds.
The owner says, he's just glad that even though he his eyes were on his business Sunday, these eyes were also rolling.
"You have to catch them in the act... it's not he said she said anymore," he adds.
The owner says the three suspects apologized when he confronted them. Deputies say all the appliances they stole earlier in the evening were returned to the business.
