CAPE CORAL, Fla.- It was a drug deal gone bad...near a Cape Coral community park. Police arrested three people for having a dozen bottles of narcotics. One woman, Mary Jones, was involved in a serious crash earlier this year.
It's this kind of activity that has neighbors concerned about what happens at Saratoga Lake Park. In the 400 block of SE 4th Place, people called police after seeing a man armed with what appeared to be a shotgun. This happened just down the street from Saratoga Lake Park where children play
"I don't like it of course and I want to keep it quiet." Howard Rosenstein has lived here for decades and says the news is upsetting. "If it's going to be like that i might sell my house," he said.
Tuesday afternoon, Cape Coral Police say they found Richard Ball holding a realistic looking pellet gun. Ball was arguing with Mary Jones and Ashley Hoffrichter who were inside a truck parked in the middle of the road. When police confronted them, reports show Jones tried to stuff a bottle of pills down her pants.
Jones is the same woman we told you about in January. Police say she crashed a van into a ditch. The impact injured 6 children inside. Jones told WINK News at the time she wasn't driving the van, but someone else was.
"He jerked off to try and get off of that. I couldn't get out the passenger door and so I had to climb out of the driver window," Jones said in a January 2013 interview.
But she couldn't identify that person. Police have yet to charge her in that crash.
Meanwhile Cape Coral Police have stepped up patrols near Saratoga Lake Park over the past few weeks.
