TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Ten gang members have been arrested in Tampa as part of a 10-month investigation.
Attorney General Pam Bondi, Col. Donna Lusczynski of the Hillsborough County Sheriff Office and Capt. Jerry Stwan of the Plant City Police Department announced the arrests Monday.
The members were part of the "Norte 14" gang. They're accused of committing crimes such as aggravated battery, robbery, aggravated assault and homicide.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Division began work on the operation in August of last year. The investigation was named Operation Red Dawn.
Bondi said the gang members "terrorized" residents in Hillsborough and Polk counties.
The defendants will each face charges of racketeering and conspiracy to engage in racketeering for their alleged organized crime activity.
