PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- A Port Charlotte man, who was arrested early Saturday morning on charges related to both buying and selling controlled substances, swallowed the pill he had just purchased from undercover Narcotics detectives.
Detectives arrested Peter James Aldhurst, 28, of 2356 Conway Blvd., on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance within 1,000 ft. of a County Park with the Intent to Sell, Purchase of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
On Tuesday May 21, undercover detectives met with Aldhurst at the intersection of Conway Blvd. and Gleneagles Terrace, the location selected by Aldhurst. This location is within 1,000 ft. of Lake Betty Park. During the meeting, Aldhurst sold 15 Alprazolam pills to the undercover officer for $30.
On the late evening of Friday, Aldhurst again met with an undercover detective, this time for the purpose of buying Oxycodone. The undercover officer gave him one placebo pill that appeared to be Oxycodone in exchange for $30.
According to detectives, Aldhurst had the placebo pill in his hand when the signal was given to take him into custody. When Aldhurst saw the Sheriff’s Office members moving toward him, he put the placebo pill in his mouth and swallowed it.
Aldhurst was taken into custody and transported to the Charlotte County Jail where he was released on $40,000 bond.
