GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla.- Deputies arrested 27-year-old Landy Fernandez and uncovered 50 marijuana plants valued at $727,000 Wednesday.

Collier County Detectives discovered that a detached garage, while executing a search warrant at 2535 29th Ave. N.E., that had been converted into an indoor marijuana grow operation. In addition to the plants, they discovered grow equipment such as cooling units, transformers and high-intensity lighting. The value of the grow equipment was estimated at $5,000.

Fernandez, a resident of the home, was in the house when deputies arrived, and was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of a place used for trafficking a controlled substance and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

A second person in the home at the time the warrant was executed could not be tied to the grow operation and was released.
