PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- A Charlotte County Sheriff's Street Crimes Unit officer arrested two men and a 17-year-old girl on drug charges Thursday. At 3:55 p.m. the deputy observed a man walking around a Ford pickup and looking inside it in a rear parking lot at 20600 Veterans Boulevard. Mohamed Farzan Rahim, 18, of 2066 Lakeview Boulevard; Jeremy Lucian Brown, 22, of 907 Silver Springs Terrace; and a 17-year-old juvenile girl, were all arrested.
As the deputy approached, Brown ran and then jumped inside, locking the door; he was then observed putting several pills in his mouth and chewing them. Backup units arrived and assisted in getting Brown out of the vehicle. Deputies were able to get small pieces of the pills including one in his left front pocket. The pills were identified as Xanax. Brown said he swallowed one of the pills; EMS was called and cleared him on scene.
The 17-year-old driver gave deputies permission to search her vehicle. A small safe belonging to Rahim was found containing two quart size bags; one with 45 grams of marijuana and the other 40 grams. Rahim also had a pill canister on his key chain that contained two Xanax pills that he said he gets from his mother. Also, a small baggie with 4 grams of marijuana was found next to where Rahim was sitting. A search of the juvenile’s purse located a small amount of marijuana inside, but in her vehicle deputies found a white sock containing a glass smoking pipe, two baggies with 1-gram of marijuana in one and a half-gram in the other that belonged to the juvenile. She was arrested and given a Notice to Appear (NTA) in court, then released.
Brown was charged with Possession of Xanax, Tampering with Evidence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting an Officer. Rahim was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana Over 20-grams, Possession of Xanax, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Brown and Rahim were transported to the Charlotte County Jail. Brown posted a $7,000 bond and Rahim an $8,500 bond Friday and was released.
