GOLDEN GATE, Fla. - A 23-year-old man from Golden Gate just released from prison is back behind bars, accused of stabbing and raping a teen girl.
Collier County Sheriff's Detectives say Jacob Carrel broke into the victim's house Thursday, said he was going to kill her and forced her to have sex with him. Afterward, she said he forcefully twisted her neck until she lost consciousness. She said she woke up in a pool of blood with a knife next to her.
When deputies arrived, she told them she didn't know her attacker's name, but recognized him as friend of her brother's. Based on her description, the victim's brother was able to identify the suspect as Jacob Carrel.
Deputies went to Carrel's home on February 9th and arrested him. Carrel is charged with attempted murder, sexual battery and armed burglary. According to the Department of Corrections, he was released from prison the day before the alleged attack. He had served time for stealing his mother's jewelry and selling it to a pawn shop.
Carrel is also a registered sex offender. He was arrested back in 2008 for lewd and lascivious molestation.
