The City of Fort Myers saw a record number of homicides last year and ready there's an unsolved case this year.
The Fort Myers Police Department is looking for help!
Police Chief Doug Baker held a meeting to seek assistance in addressing concerns regarding the current homicide and violent crime rate over the last 18 months.
Chief Baker invited representatives from the Department of Justice and clergy leaders for their input.
2012 was the city's deadliest year.
Prior to this meeting, the DOJ reviewed Fort Myers community policies regarding violent crime.
In today's meeting, all parties agree it's going to start with building trust and relationships.
A representative with the DOJ says he is convinced this year is going to be a great year for the clergy, the city and the police department.
There were 24 murders in 2012 and 1 murder already this year.
