NORTH PORT, Fla.- Officers arrested 19-year-old Kyle McMahan Friday for allegedly posting a bomb threat on Facebook regarding North Port High School last week.

On December 17,  School Resource Officers at the high school were contacted by students about an anonymous electronic posting on Facebook. The writer made several threats to the school campus, specifically that there may be explosives on site. Explosive detection dogs from Lee County conducted a sweep of the entire campus, but located nothing. Detectives investigated this case and have determined it to be a hoax; however, there has been an arrest.

McMahan, of 12313 Greenleaf Lane, was interviewed Friday and charged with False Report of Bomb or Explosive Device, a felony, and Disrupting School Function, a misdemeanor.

McMahan surrendered to detectives Friday morning at the North Port Police Department. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Sarasota County Jail, with no bond.
