ENGLEWOOD, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested two Englewood East brothers on numerous drug dealing charges Monday. Matthew Robert Werman, 31, of 7123 Teaberry Street, and Mark Anthony Werman, 27, of 7412 Hart Street, were both arrested.
Deputies responded to a call at 11:44 a.m. to Mama’s Restaurant on S. McCall Road, in reference to a white Nissan Titan pickup in the parking lot. The unidentified caller said one of the men was Matt Werman and it appeared they were “waiting for something to happen or casing the Pill Doctor’s office.” As deputies approached, Mark Werman saw patrol cars coming, got out of the truck and began to walk away at a fast pace. Deputies stopped him and also made contact with his brother, the driver, Matthew Werman and a woman in the pickup. Deputies saw Matthew close the center console after putting something inside. He was asked if there were any weapons in the pickup and he said there was a loaded .380 in the center console. The handgun was located and secured.
Communications advised deputies there were Narcotics Unit charges out for Mark Werman for an Aug. 27 undercover drug buy of Oxycodone and Dilaudid pills; he was then arrested. A search of Mark located a pill bottle in his front pocket and another bottle in his underwear containing Oxycodone pills.
Deputies asked Matthew if there was anything in the pickup that included knives, weapons, drugs or money to which he replied “no” and they could search. Deputies found several knives in the driver side door panel; Matthew said they were for “hunting.” A black nylon bag was found in the console containing seven pill bottles containing Oxycodone, Hydromorphone and Diazepam, plus Ibuprofen and Codine. Next to the gun and nylon bag deputies located a wad of cash held by a rubber band totaling$350. The currency is being forfeited based on the Florida Contraband Act.
Matthew was arrested on 10 charges: Three counts of Trafficking in Daizepam while Armed, and one count each for Trafficking in Oxycodone while Armed, and Trafficking in Hydromorphone while Armed. He was also charged with two counts of Possession of Ibuprofen without a Prescription, plus one count each for Possession of Controlled Substance Codeine, Possession of Controlled Substance Hydromorephone, and Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia. His brother Matt Werman was charged with Sale and Delivery of Oxycodone within 1,000 feet of a Church, Sale and Delivery of Dilaudid within 1,000 feet of a Church, Possession of Dilaudid, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and two counts of Possession of Oxycodone.
