LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Deputies arrested 55-year-old Robert Brein, of 14701 Patrick Henry Road in North Fort Myers, on DUI charges after he allegedly hit two pedestrians with his Toyota Corolla on Tuesday evening.
The 77 and 81-year-old pedestrians were walking in the northbound, marked, bike lane on New Post Rd. around 6:30 p.m. when they were hit. They were both transported to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment. The 77-year-old victim suffered a large hematoma to her hand, while the 81-year-old suffered a broken elbow and possible broken hip.
According to the arrest report, Brein swayed and stumbled as spoke to deputies. Deputies said his eyes were bloodshot and he smelled strongly of alcohol. Brein also failed several sobriety tests.
Brein told deputies he was drivign the vehicle at the time of the accident and was at fault.
