PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives Tuesday arrested Robin Patrick Conte, 51, of 2125 Tea Street, for Armed Robbery with a Deadly Weapon. This new charge is for the Oct. 18 armed robbery of the Asian Cai Lay Market, on El Jobean Road. He’s been in the Charlotte County Jail since Nov. 8 in connection with the Nov. 1 robbery of the SunTrust Bank.
A man entered the Asian Cai Lay Market armed with a knife and demanded money from an employee who refused to open the cash register. The robber then turned to a customer and stole $60 cash. The robber fled the store, but was not apprehended. On Nov. 1 a man held up the SunTrust Bank on Murdock Circle, and fled with an undetermined amount of money.
