NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla.- Lee County Sheriff's deputies arrested Benjamin Presley III and Jesse Raco, both 18, after they allegedly broke into an elderly woman's home, robbing her while armed and wearing ski masks. Her 90-year-old, amputee mother was also in the home, located on Snead Dr. in North Fort Myers, at the time of the robbery, Saturday night.
The victim found a large screwdriver on her couch after the fact, which she believes the 18-year-old suspects were carrying as a weapon.
According to the arrest report, the victim was lying on the couch watching TV when a masked man approached her, grabbed her face and said "get the money." She saw two other males who were also masked and dressed in dark clothes. The victim complied with the suspects, giving them an envelope of cash before they fled the residence.
She told deputies she tried to call 911, but the phone was not in service, so she reported the incident to her community's security guard. The victim thought the men may have been connected with her grandson.
A witness saw a man with a maroon Mitsubishi Eclipse at a nearby gas station acting suspiciously. Deputies then asked the victim's grandson if he knew anyone who drove this vehicle, to which he responded Jesse Raco.
On Sunday, Raco was spotted in the vehicle. After questioning, LCSO found probably cause to arrest the two men.
