CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Cape Coral Police arrested 66-year-old William Riley after he allegedly fired a gun twice inside his home while he was intoxicated.
According to his arrest report, two witnesses said they were helping Riley into his home, after he was discovered passed out in a field. It goes on to say Riley stumbled into the master bedroom, and then fell off the bed, waking his wife. He then grabbed a firearm, raised it and yelled for everyone to get out. The witnesses exited the residence, but heard shots fired, and called 911.
When officers entered Riley's residence, they found him passed out between the nightstand and the bed. There was a strong odor of gun powder in the master bedroom and two shell casings were located nearby. Two bullet holes were observed in between the closet and bedroom door. A handgun was discovered.
Riley refused a breath test, but a blood draw at the hospital revealed his blood alcohol content to be .317.
