PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives arrested two men involved in three Port Charlotte homes and one vehicle burglary over the weekend. Casey Lee Charnley, 19, and Jeffrey Walter Behrmann were arrested for the crime.
Deputies Saturday at 7:13 a.m. responded to 2415 Bendway Drive when the owners discovered someone entered his lanai and stole a small refrigerator, three bottles of liquor and two packs of cigarettes. Deputies did a neighborhood canvass and located a “party house” at 18198 Griffin Avenue where Behrmann lives. They also found several other burglaries in the neighborhood.
Detectives were called to investigate and reported that a mower, binoculars and cigarettes were stolen from 2367 Bendway Drive; a pressure washer from 2407 Bendway Drive; and power tools from a pickup truck at 18166 Griffin Avenue. Detectives said Charnley and Behrmann were both drinking at Behrmann’s home; they decided to walk the neighborhood, and the thefts began. Detectives and deputies were able to locate all of the stolen property except for the cigarettes. Deputies returned the stolen items to the victims.
Charnley and Behrmann were both arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail. Charnley was charged with four counts of Grand Theft, and four counts of Burglary. Behrmann was charged with two counts each for Burglary and Grand Theft. Both remain in jail; Charnley on $27,500 bond, and Behrmann on $15,000 bond. This is Behrmann’s fourth booking.
