NAPLES, Fla.- Collier County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 78-year-old man Thursday, after he allegedly punched an officer in the face.

According to reports, Howard Marcotte threatened to kill his live-in caregiver during a nonsensical tirade. Though the caregiver told deputies Marcotte gets angry and yells often, on this day he exited his bedroom holding a shotgun, using profanity and threatening the caregiver directly.

The caregiver had previously confiscated Marcotte's ammunition and hid it, but when he went to check the hiding spot during Marcotte's tantrum, he realized the bullets were missing. At this time, he assumed Marcotte was holding a loaded weapon.

When an officer arrived, Marcotte agreed to meet him outside, unarmed. As he attempted to secure the suspect in handcuffs, Marcotte allegedly punched the deputy in the face with a closed fist.

The suspect was taken to the ground and handcuffed without further incident.
