COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Johny Francois, 26, was arrested Wednesday evening after leaving the scene of a car accident involving injury.
Francois' black Mitsubishi Montero was stopped in front of a residence on 19th Court SW just before the accident. The victim, a 21-year-old woman, was standing on the driver's side running board arguing with the driver through an open window, according to police reports.
Witnesses told officers that when the defendant's girlfriend arrived in another vehicle, Francois rapidly accelerated with the victim still on the running board. This caused her to fall from the car onto the roadway, striking her head and causing minor bruises and scratches. The impact knocked her unconscious.
The defendant allegedly then left the scene. Francois was arrested later that day. His license was revoked and he is now facing charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving injury and careless driving.
