COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Juan Garcesbetancourt, 35, was arrested on Wednesday after his alleged involvement in a hit and run accident in the Brittany Bay apartment complex. 

According to police reports, the suspect allegedly pulled out of a parking spot at a very high speed, sideswiping a vehicle, and then sped off. The owner of the vehicle he hit was standing outside watching fireworks and witnessed the accident occur. 

Officers observed the suspect leave the complex at a high rate of speed. Reports say that he blew through a stop sign before entering onto Collier Blvd. where the vehicle fishtailed out of control for approximately 200 feet.

Shortly after officers pulled the suspect over, the victim of the accident pulled up behind the stopped officer and explained that they were the victim of a hit and run and that the suspect vehicle was the offender.

Garcesbetancourt was arrested and is now facing charges of reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage. Deputies suspect that the defendant may have been under the influence of illegal narcotics at the time of the incident.
