PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- A Charlotte County Sheriff's deputy at the Justice Center in Punta Gorda arrested a Deep Creek woman Tuesday after finding a dagger in her purse that was concealed in the handle of a comb. Kimberly Snyder, 45, of 26117 Madras Court, was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.

The CCSO deputy at 350 East Marion Avenue was operating a scanner at 8:45 a.m. at the front lobby security checkpoint. A woman entered, placed her purse in a tray, and the scanner revealed a dagger type knife in the purse. He asked the woman if the purse was hers and Snyder identified herself as the owner then consented to a search of her purse. The first search did not find a knife, so the deputy reviewed the scanner and identified the three-inch blade was attached to the handle and concealed in the top of the comb portion making it look like a hand comb.

Deputies took the knife/comb as evidence; Snyder said someone gave it to her for protection because she was living in the woods. She was searched, arrested, and then transported to the Charlotte County Jail. This is Snyder’s 11th booking; she remains in jail on $1,000 bond.
