PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man Sunday who was wanted for stabbing a man at a birthday party on June 10. Tyler Ray Kerry, 20, of 175 Palmetto Circle in Port Charlotte was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon; this is Kerry’s 15th booking.
CCSO received a 911 hang up call at 3:17 a.m. and responded to 810 Palmetto Circle. The home owner told deputies that he was having a birthday party with friends when two men who lived down the street showed up uninvited. A fight broke out and one of the men pulled out a lock blade knife and stabbed his 30 year old cousin in the groin area. Both men then fled and were last seen running down Palmetto Drive. EMS responded and transported the victim to Peace River Regional Medical Center.
Deputies learned the identity of Kerry and responded to his home down the street. The second man was identified as Kerry’s 24 year old brother. A photo line-up was made and witnesses at the party positively identified Tyler Kerry as the man who did the stabbing. Attempts to locate him were unsuccessful until a road deputy Sunday at 8:20 p.m. located a blue car driven by Kerry and made a traffic stop at U.S. 41 and Olean Boulevard. Kerry was transported to the Charlotte County Jail where he remains without bond at this time.
