PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- A Charlotte County Sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop for a stop sign violation and immediately recognized the driver of a gold colored Cadillac who is a habitual traffic violator with no license. The deputy located drugs and a large amount of cash on Cleveland Dubose Jr., of 22532 Westchester Boulevard in Port Charlotte.
Upon observing the driver at 3:57 p.m. Thursday in the Charlotte Ranchettes subdivision east of Punta Gorda, the traffic stop was made at Alfred Boulevard and Clark Drive. It was confirmed Dubose’s driver’s license was revoked for five years in December 2008. The deputy searched Dubose and located a clear plastic baggie with two large pieces of Crack Cocaine. In his wallet, deputies found $3,000 cash in $100 and $20 denominations.
The Crack Cocaine and cash was seized for evidence and forfeiture. Dubose was charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine, Driving while License Revoked as Habitual, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was taken to the Charlotte County Jail where he remains on no bond due to his criminal history; this is his 10th booking.
Anyone with knowledge of illegal drug activity is asked to please call the CCSO Narcotics Unit at 941-575-2157, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
