PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Punta Gorda police arrested a 33-year-old Port Charlotte man who is suspected of breaking into the Celtic Ray on June 17.
Eric Charles Briner, of Lockwood St., was arrested on burglary and grand theft charges on Thursday.
Officers responded to the Celtic Ray on East Marion Avenue on Sunday after someone had pried open the rear door of the business. The owner reported a safe containing $3,000 in cash along with credit card receipts missing.
Surveillance footage shows Briner, a former employee, committing the crime. Security footage from Briner's neighborhood showed him arriving home the night of the crime wearing the same outfit as in the Celtic Ray surveillance video.
Police located pieces of the safe inside Briner's home.
Briner was taken to the Charlotte County Jail and held on $5,000 bond.
