PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives arrested two Port Charlotte boys that allegedly stole a $2,000 Go-Cart, stripped it, and used it for joyriding. The juvenile suspects are 14 and 15 years of age.
On June 16, deputies responded to a call to investigate the theft of the go-cart which the owner located nearby at one of the boy's homes. The cart had been stripped of its parts but he was able to positively identify it as belonging to him.
Neighbors were contacted and a witness confirmed seeing the suspect taking parts off the go-cart on the side of his home and riding it on the street. The two boys reportedly went into the garage of the victim, pushed the go-cart out and took it to their home. The parts off the go-cart were reportedly thrown into a canal in the area.
Detectives arrested both boys and transported them to the Charlotte County Jail. Both boys are charged with Burglary and Grand Theft; one was additionally charged with Probation Violation for a previous felony charges and had a curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
