LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Brittany Spikes, 22, was arrested on Wednesday evening and is facing charges of child neglect after allegedly leaving her child at home.

Deputies were notified by neighbors that a young child, estimated to be 3 or 4 years of age, was wandering around the neighborhood while knocking on doors, looking for her mother, according to police reports.

Once authorities determined who the mother was, they contacted her at work and asked her to return home.

The Department of Children and Family Services arrived on scene and took custody of the child. Spikes was arrested without incident.
