CAPE CORAL, Fla.- Cape Coral resident Nathan Patrick Dattolico is facing drug possession and burglary charges after allegedly being seen climbing out of the victim's bedroom window Tuesday night.
Cape Coral Police were called to a reported burglary in progress at 138 SE 40th Street on June 5th at 9;00 p.m. The caller told police that he arrived at his home, at which time he witnessed a male suspect climbing out of his window. The suspect, who was dressed in black clothing, got on a bicycle and fled into the neighborhood. The victim called Cape Coral Police.
Officers were in the area and within minutes had a perimeter set up around the neighborhood. An officer witnessed a male fitting the description of the suspect riding a bicycle only a block away from the crime. The officer detained the male to determine if he was the burglary suspect.
Dattolico was hesitant to cooperate with the officer and initially refused with requests to refrain from going into his pockets. He attempted to nonchalantly retrieve an item from his pocket and throw it without being detected. The officer saw Dattolico throw the item and recovered it; the item was a syringe.
The victim was brought to the scene of the detention where he positively identified Dattolico as the suspect who was fleeing from his house. Dattolico began to resist arrest, but was eventually taken into custody and charged with Burglary of a Dwelling, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Resisting Arrest.
