FORT MYERS, Fla.- Fort Myers Police arrested 44-year-old Elvin Thomas for allegedly robbing the 7-Eleven on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. at 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to the police report, Thomas entered the store, took an apple off the shelf, approached the clerk and said, "I got a gun; I don't want to hurt you. Give me all your money."

Thomas then put his hand in his pocket, implying that he had a weapon. The clerk complied with the suspect's demands.

The suspect fled east with $167.

With K9 assistance, officers located Thomas not far from the scene of the crime. The owner of the store positively identified him from surveillance footage.

Thomas was transported to the Lee County Jail.
