OSPREY, Fla.- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested 31-year-old Troy Hugan, of 2923 Pershing Avenue, in connection with an altercation that took place on North Washington Boulevard early Tuesday morning and also led to a deadly shooting.

Hugan is currently charged with one count of Domestic Battery for a physical altercation with a woman and four counts of Aggravated Assault for threatening her and three of her friends with a gun when they came to her rescue.

The man who was killed has been identified as 51-year-old Edwin Frett. He arrived at the scene after his daughter called and told him about the fight with Hugan and the shooting erupted a short time later.

Detectives continue speaking with witnesses and victims to determine the exact chain of events.

Two of the shooting victims were treated and released. A third victim is currently hospitalized in stable condition.
