FORT MYERS, Fla.- Four more individuals have been charged in the ongoing Lee County School District check fraud investigation.
Fort Myers Police arrested 26-year-old Christopher Goff, 29-year-old Tyechia Minnis, 26-year-old Sharita Merricks, 28-year-old Justin Battle on May 24th.
The suspects face charges of theft and passing a counterfeit check after allegedly cashing a counterfeit Lee County School District payroll check at a local Walmart.
Jontavius Person, 20, Andra Joyner, 23, Hendry Epps, 25, Shanice Anderson, 18, Tabish Bellot, 24, Diana Thar, 46, Roshonda Franklin, 20, Ebony Powell, 23, and Tina Groff, 27, are additionally accused of uttering the counterfeit checks.
The investigation began in April when it was revealed that several subjects uttered counterfeit checks at various businesses in Lee County using the school district's payroll bank account number.
After obtaining certified copies of the counterfeit checks, it was determined that the checks were similar to the School District's authentic checks, although the names on the counterfeit checks were not names of Lee County School District employees.
As in the previous arrests, the suspects were identified through video surveillance and used their real identities on the counterfeit checks.
