PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Port Charlotte woman for stealing a TV and plants Monday from Wal-Mart in Punta Gorda. She used a taxi to taker her there, and attempted to use it as a getaway car with the stolen items. Arrested wasLizette Marie Sepulveda, 29, 22308 Nyack Avenue; she is a convicted felon with 24 bookings and 34 records.

The store manager contacted CCSO after Sepulveda was observed putting several plants into her cart in the garden shop, then a television from electronics. She then proceeded past all checkout registers to an awaiting taxi in the parking lot. The manager approached the taxi and Sepulveda then ran away toward the Murphy Gas Station on Jones Loop Road. When deputies arrived, Sepulveda was located across the street at the Pilot gas station. The manager positively identified Sepulveda as the one seen on video stealing the items and taking them to a taxi.

Deputies talked to the taxi driver who said he was dispatched at 6:12 a.m. to pick up a woman at Conway and Tamiami Trail in Port Charlotte. Sepulveda asked the cab driver to take her to the Punta Gorda Wal-Mart and wait for him after they arrived. The drive said he waited and a few minutes and later she came out and loaded the stolen items valued at $455 into the taxi. The manager approached and she fled on foot.

Sepulveda was arrested and transported to the Charlotte County Jail. While she was being searched at the Intake area for booking, deputies located a broken glass tube with wire mesh screen in her duffle bag that tested positive for opiates. She was charged with Grand Theft and Smuggling Contraband into a Correctional Facility. Sepulveda remains in jail on no bond.
