PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives arrested three juveniles charging them with Burglary and Arson to an unoccupied home at 22314 Hernando Avenue in Port Charlotte. A 16-year-old male, a 14-year-old male and a 14-year-old female were arrested.

CCSO and Charlotte County Fire responded to the house fire at 5:31 p.m. Tuesday. When the fire was extinguished, the State Fire Marshal responded and determined the fire was an act of arson. A couch and small chair in the living room were set on fire.

Detectives arrived and talked to a witness who saw two boys come out of the home and identified them as the suspects. Detectives located the 14-year-old male, who he gave them a false name at first and declined to talk to detectives.

The 16-year-old was located at his home and talked to detectives.

The female suspect was identified as also being in the burned home with the boys. A BOLO was issued for the girl, a missing runaway, and she was located at 4:16 a.m. Wednesday morning.

A search of the 14-year-old male found a knife in his front pocket that was approximately seven inches in length when folded and 12 inches long when opened. He was additionally charged with Possession of a Concealed Weapon and Giving a False Name to a Law Enforcement Officer.

All three were transported to the Charlotte County Jail, booked, and then taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Ft. Myers. This is the 14-year-old male’s fourth booking; the second for the other juvenile suspects.
