PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives arrested 21-year-old Harry Alexander Beatty, of 20526 Midway Boulevard, for pawning jewelry he stole from his aunt after she took him in to help out when he got out of jail Dec. 22, 2011. Beatty was charged with 19 felony counts and remains in jail on $249,500 bond.
The victim called CCSO April 17 to report her nephew had stolen over $5,000 of her jewelry over a period of time and pawned it locally for drug money. She told detectives Beatty left Port Charlotte and was in the Tampa area. Detectives checked and located the victim’s jewelry that Beatty had pawned at three Port Charlotte pawn brokers or second hand dealers. As per state law, Beatty provided a copy of his driver’s license and fingerprint on all transactions. The victim identified all of the jewelry detectives located.
Beatty turned himself in to detectives Monday and was charged with nine counts of Dealing in Stolen Property, nine counts of False Verification of Ownership, and Grand Theft. This is his second booking.
