PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit detectives, assisted by Punta Gorda Police officers, conducted an undercover prostitution operation Monday that resulted in two arrests. Julie Marie Moon, 26, and Christopher Maurice Roberts, 36, both of 17296 Cape Horn Boulevard in Punta Gorda, were arrested.

Punta Gorda Police advised CCSO that they made contact with Moon on an internet website in reference to paying for sex in the Punta Gorda area. PGPD officers said calls made by Moon indicated she was working out of Knights Inn near I-75/Exit-161 in Punta Gorda.

CCSO Narcotics detectives took over the operation and called Moon at 2:30 p.m. Moon stated the cost would be $400 for one hour and two guys at the motel. The two undercover detectives went to the motel and at 2:45 p.m., a black Nissan pulled into the lot driven by Roberts with his passenger Moon; she got out and Roberts drove off. The two detectives and Moon went into the motel room and gave her the $400 she requested at which time she called Roberts who came back to get the money.

When Roberts arrived, Moon left the room and handed the money to him; CCSO and PGPD marked units moved in and blocked Roberts from leaving the parking lot. Roberts immediately threw the recorded money out the car window which was recovered. Detectives searched Roberts and seized $1,304 cash in his pants pocket. A search of Moon’s purse located 1.7 grams of Crack Cocaine and 14 Codeine pills.

Moon and Roberts were arrested and taken to the Charlotte County Jail. Roberts is charged with Deriving Support from Prostitution, Tampering with Evidence, and Expired Driver’s License. Moon was charged with Prostitution, Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Codeine, and Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia. Roberts remains in jail on no bond while Moon posted a $6,500 bond and was release Tuesday morning.
