LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Ernest Locke was arrested after allegedly tossing grow house paraphernalia into a dumpster on a neighbor's property.
Lee County Sheriff's deputies examined the contents of the dumpster in February and found supplies necessary for running a grow house operation. Additionally, deputies discovered bills addressed to Locke mixed in with the contents.
Detectives conducted surveillance on the 28-year-old suspect's residence, located at 2619 6th St. SW, and observed an individual leaving the house who had been arrested in 2007 for being in possession of 10 pounds of marijuana.
Meanwhile, in early March, another complaint came in as to more evidence being disposed of into the neighbor's dumpster.
In late March, Jason Sheppard exited the residence and was pulled over by LCSO for speeding, not wearing a seat belt and following too closely. At that time, the deputy's K9 partner alerted to the trunk where three and half pounds of marijuana, a scale and a pipe were located. Sheppard was arrested and a search warrant was issued for Locke's home.
A total of 119 marijuana plants, multiple bags of marijuana, guns and large amounts of cash were located inside of the residence. Locke was arrested for the crime.
