DESOTO COUNTY, Fla.- A Desoto County High School teacher was arrested Wednesday for sexual battery on one of his female students from 2009 through 2010.

Luis Alvarez was arrested in Arcadia after an interview with the Desoto County Sheriff's Office in which he admitted to fondling a 17-year-old student. The 33-year-old band director for Desoto County High School also admitted that the sexual activity continued and progressed after the student turned 18. Alvarez was aware of the victim's age and that he was in a position of custodial authority when he battered the victim.
