PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office arrested a man for stealing weapons from two vehicles in Port Charlotte. Thomas David Solesbee, 18, of 21882 Calvin Lane in Port Charlotte was arrested for the crime.

CCSO received a call Tuesday at 8:27 p.m. from a man who said a handgun and a knife were stolen from his pickup parked at his home in the 21900 block of Buxton Avenue.

A deputy’s investigation developed the suspect as Solesbee.

Deputies recovered the man’s stolen property in a pouch in a trash can at a home on Beverly Avenue at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday morning. The pouch also contained a second handgun that had the serial number removed.

CCSO detectives were able to identify the second handgun that was stolen from an unlocked vehicle Mar. 11 in the 400 block of Notson Terrace in Port Charlotte. A loaded handgun magazine and a box of ammunition were also stolen.

Based on evidence and witness information, Solesbee was transported to the Charlotte County Jail; bond was set at $58,000 which he posted and was released this morning. This is Solesbee’s second booking.
