PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives arrested 18-year-old Dontavious Clevon Powell, of 16120 Alcira Circle in Burnt Store Village, who was caught red-handed in his neighbor’s home when the owners came home early from vacation. They saw the front door had been forced open and Powell standing in their living room with a backpack on; he left and they called CCSO.
The owners reported a laptop and cell phone valued at $600 was stolen. Detectives went to Powell’s home and confronted him. He gave permission to enter his home and search for the stolen items but detectives did not locate them. Detectives did a neighborhood canvas and obtained witnesses who saw Powell outside the front door of the home that was burglarized.
Powell was charged with Burglary and Grand Theft; he was transported to the Charlotte County Jail where he remains on $7,500 bond. This is his 13th booking into the jail.
