LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A sex offender, worried about his mail, has been delivered to the Lee County Jail.
A detective with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Sexual Offender/Predator Unit received information that 50-year-old Douglas Hotz was not living at his permanent registered address in Lehigh Acres.
The detective went to the address and spoke with a friend of Hotz who stated that Hotz asked if he could use that address to receive his mail. The friend agreed to let Hotz use the address for the purpose of receiving mail. Further investigation revealed Hotz was never given permission to use the address as his permanent residence and, in fact, had never resided at that address.
Hotz was arrested for failing to comply with sex offender registration, which requires a sex offender report an address change within 48 hours to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
Hotz was qualified as a sexual offender in Florida in 2006.
