PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's Narcotics detectives arrested a Port Charlotte mother of two small children on drug and child abuse charges.
Kimberly Ann Crews, 27, of 22335 Lasalle Road, was arrested.
Detectives responded to the home concerning a narcotics tip. Crews and her sister answered the knock at the door and gave permission to enter and search the home. Detectives said there were also two small children, ages 6 and 2 years of age inside.
During the search, Oxycodone pills, marijuana, rolling papers, a metal spoon with Opiate residue, and two cut straws containing powder residue were seized for evidence. Detective’s said narcotic items found in the kitchen were in hands reach of the children. The Department of Children & Family Services was notified and the children were turned over to a relative.
Crews was arrested and charged with Child Neglect, Possession of Oxycodone, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia. She was taken to the Charlotte County Jail and posted a $7,000 bond this morning and released.
