FORT MYERS, Fla.- On Tuesday, the Fort Myers Police Department arrested 47-year-old Damon Snider for Second Degree Murder.

On Monday at 2:45 a.m. FMPD received a call in reference to a deceased male located at 9355 Six Mile Cypress Parkway. The location is a wooded area and known transient camp behind a shopping center at the address. Police responded to the scene and confirmed the information. Detectives Dennis Keen and Vincent Doyle began investigating the case. The two worked with the Medical Examiner’s Office and the death was ruled a homicide.

The victim was identified as 46-year-old Jonathan Obenauer.

Further investigation revealed that Snider and Obenauer got into an argument that turned physical. Snider ultimately beat Obenauer to death. It is unclear why the two were arguing.

Snider was taken into custody without incident.
